When And Why Did You Start Bodybuilding/Training ?
I was always a fairly active kid growing up I played a lot of sports, so I was practically training at a very early age of about 7 to stay competitive. As far as hitting the weights hard, that probably started in the summer before my freshman year in high school. I just remember everyone around me hit a growth spurt that summer and I didn’t. I entered my freshmen year at 4’11 and 120 lbs, significantly smaller than everyone else.
What Motivates You Everyday To Stay On Track With Your Diet/Training ?
I’m a fairly self-motivated person so turning bodybuilding into a lifestyle has been a simple transition for me. Coupled with the fact that I was able to make a transformation of about 50 lbs, which now allows me to help and motivate others to achieve their fitness goals and keep the fire burning inside me as well. If I can do it, anyone can do it!
What Is Your Lifting And Cardio Routine Like
Personally I like to always switch it up to shock the body and keep it guessing. I work with a great coach, Dan Hawtin of “Bodies by G-force” so we always come up with a great plan, depending If its in-season or off-season etc. But a typical routine for me looks like this.
Monday – Chest/Abs
Tuesday – Back
Wednesday – Legs/Abs
Thursday – Shoulders
Fri – Arms/Abs
I do cardio anywhere from 30-90 minutes a day, 4-6 days per week depending how far and what type of conditioning I’m in, heading into contest prep.
Can You Give Us An Outline Of Your Diet ?
I tend to eat 6-7 smaller meals a day that are about 3 hours apart.
Meal 1: 7 egg whites, 1 whole egg with ½ cup of oatmeal.
Meal 2: 8 oz grilled chicken, fish oil with 1 cup of string beans.
Meal 3: 8 oz grilled chicken with 8 oz sweet potato.
Meal 4: Pre Workout shake.
Meal 5: Post Workout shake.
Meal 6: 8 oz steak with 1 cup of green beans.
Meal 7: Casein shake before bed.
Whats Your Supplementation Like ?
As a Beyond Genetics sponsored athlete, I would definitely recommend anyone their products. They definitely have been instrumental to my success. You can check them out at Breakingpastgenetics.com. Outside of their products I use a whey protein, BCAA’s, fish oil, and glutamine
.
What Are Your Hopes For The Future In The Fitness World ?
Well on the competition front, a BIG goal of mine in 2013 is to hopefully get my IFBB pro card. I was fortunate enough to place top 5 and 6 respectively at my first 2 national shows, so i’m definitely looking to continue to improve on that. As far as modeling, I definitely want to continue to pursue and create as many opportunities as possible. In general, I just hope to motivate and inspire as many people as possible to continue to pursue their goals.
